DescriptionIn November 1946, Miller visited Dublin on an assignment concerning James Joyce (1882-1941). She toured the city, visiting places from Joyce’s life and writing. This photograph was taken from a bridge over the River Tolka in Drumcondra, near to where Joyce once lived. Of the cottages Miller noted, ‘In their ruins, beautiful in picturesque disorder, crowded families still live: and from their doorways watch the boats drift past.
