Blaise Drummondb.1967

Blaise Drummond studied at the National College of Art and Design and although born in Liverpool, he has lived and worked in Ireland for many years. His influences include 1960s American land art, the architecture of Le Corbusier and Alvar Alto, and the landscapes of nineteenth-century artist Caspar David Friedrich. Drummond’s work is concerned with contradictions – in particular the civilised versus wild nature. He is represented in several public collections, including the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and the Irish Museum of Modern Art. These prints are inspired by the interplay of natural and architectural forms. Through the combination of landscape and modernist architecture he attempts to show where humankind stands in relation to nature. Each print is hand stitched, a technique he has used throughout his career.
