Michael Geddis
Belfast-born Michael Geddis spent over 25 years working as a veterinary surgeon before returning to college. He graduated from the University of Ulster’s Belfast School of Art with degree in Fine Art in 2013. The methodical inquisitiveness that characterised his previous career as a vet is evident in his artistic practice. He makes incredibly detailed drawings with the aid of a magnifying loupe which often used in small animal surgery. He was recently awarded the Bradbury Arts Drawing Prize for a drawing exhibited at the Royal Ulster Academy Exhibition. Some of his work is included in an exhibition in the Ruskin Gallery, Lancaster University (January 2020) which brings together contemporary drawings with a connection to scientific research.
