Kyffin Williams1918-2006

Welsh artist 'Kyffin' Williams was born on the Isle of Anglesey in 1918. He attended the Slade School of Art from 1941-1944, having been discharged from the army on account of his epilepsy. He taught art at Highgate School in London for many years before returning to Wales in the early 1970s where he immersed himself in the community and painted and drew the landscape of Anglesey and North Wales incessantly. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1974. His reputation as a painter of Wales and its people grew and in 2000, aged 70, he was given a knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II.
