DescriptionDressed in an artist’s smock and with fashionable short cropped hair, Moyra Barry emphasises her identity as a practicing artist. Posed in her studio holding a large square palette, her quizzical gaze invites us into her world. Barry adopted the ‘New English Technique’, described by the artist Walter Sickert as ‘a method of painting with a clean and solid mosaic of thick paint in a light key’. Through the paintings and window in the background, she draws attention to her dual interests in portraiture and landscape painting.(Katie Buckley, Curatorial Fellow - Prints and Drawings, An Artist's Presence, 2025, Print Gallery)
