DescriptionMalton, a topographical artist, came to Ireland in 1785. He is best known for his twenty-five aquatints of Dublin views. He made most of the drawings around 1792 but the print series was not published until 1799, due to a lack of finance. The Tholsel was a municipal building located on Skinner’s Row, near Christchurch Cathedral. In the late eighteenth century it was used as a courthouse. It was demolished in 1806.
