DescriptionAn Túr Gloine occasionally created secular panels on a domestic scale for private collectors.
Notable patrons include C.P. Curran – a close
friend to James Joyce – who owned at least two
panels by Michael Healy, and Mr Eu Tong Sen,
a Chinese millionaire who commissioned a
number of allegorical and mythological windows
from the studio. In this charmingly diminutive
scene, McGoldrick depicts an animated crowd
watching a traditional puppet show. It was likely
a speculative design that was never executed by
the artist.
