DescriptionThis drawing is part of a body of work inspired by the ancient myth of Icarus. It formed part of an exhibition at the Hallward Gallery Dublin in 1996 entitled Icarus. The drawing evokes a particular joyful moment from the ultimately tragic story. Kelly used a hand-painted wooden puppet as a model. In this subtly drawn image, he depicts Icarus at hte start of his adventure, soaring skywards.
