DescriptionThis watercolour depicts the distinctive shape of Benbulben piercing through the misty atmosphere. T. P. Flanagan’s childhood summers spent in county Sligo had a powerful and enduring impact on his practice. This drawing on a sketchbook leaf, was likely made on the spot. Flanagan’s luminous colouring fluently captures the soft atmospheric light of the setting. Hurried flurries of brushstrokes, across multiple tonal layers and washes, suggest wind and hazy rain pouring down.
