DescriptionThis photograph of a smiling little boy looking through railings was part of a project that focused on the people and environment of Sheriff Street in Dublin. The project began in the autumn of 1984 and concluded with an exhibition that began in the local Community Centre and then toured to number of galleries across the island of Ireland including the Project Arts Centre in Dublin’s Temple Bar. It was De Chenu’s first solo exhibition of photography.

This image was used on a poster for the exhibition at Project Arts Centre. The poster was on sale for 50p and sold out during the run of the show. It was a popular poster and later appeared mounted and framed in a library in Bray, a dry cleaners in Monkstown and on the wall of a popular restaurant in the city centre.
