DescriptionMorris took this photograph at night in his local hospital, while visiting his mother, who has dementia. In these circumstances, he explains, relatives are encouraged to stay outside normal visiting hours, and he found himself sitting opposite the lift of the downstairs café. The reflection in the lift doors, he noticed, warped the surrounding architecture and signage but also removed his head from his shoulders. He noted in that distortion a peculiar and unexpected resonance.
