DescriptionBorn Lucile Linguist, Blanch is best known for her lithographs and paintings depicting small town America. In the 1920s she joined the Woodstock Art Colony in Upstate New York. In the 1930s she exhibited at the newly founded Whitney Museum of American Art. She was commissioned to create murals for the US Post Office by the WPA, the government agency which gave work to millions of unemployed people during the Depression.
