DescriptionThis sketch was made by the artist in preparation for a painted portrait of the social justice campaigner Sister Stanislaus Kennedy (b.1939) which the NGI commissioned for the National Portrait Collection (NGI.2014.9). They are simple, quickly made notations in pencil. The artist has noted that she usually makes just a few studies on the spot since she tends to draw drafts on the compositions directly onto the canvas. It is one of a set of six sketchbook sheets presented by the artist in 2013.
