Label TextFry was an artist, critic, and historian associated with the Bloomsbury group. He was largely responsible for introducing modern French art to Britain. After the First World War, Fry made regular visits to Provence. This Provençal landscape reveals his longstanding interest in the work of Paul Cézanne. Fry has used angular planes of colour to build up the forms of the buildings, vineyards, and distant hills.
