DescriptionOn a trip to Luxembourg in 1839, Turner made studies of the Pont du Château, which linked the castle of the Counts of Luxembourg to the old city. The artist achieves an awe inspiring view of monumental proportions on a minute scale, by skillfully combining atmospheric effects and vibrant colour. He sensitively responds to the climate and atmosphere specific to the locality.Exhibition HistoryTurner in January | Ireland's Vaughan Bequest, National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh, 01 January 2025 - 31 January 2025
