DescriptionThis roughly produced hand-coloured lithograph celebrates the fact that Daniel O'Connell became Dublin's first Catholic Lord Mayor in 1841. In the same way that images of John F. Kennedy and the Pope were widely found in Irish homes in the 1960s and 70s, during the mid-19th century popular prints of O'Connell could be found in the parlours of the Irish poor.
