Label TextSullivan was born in Bantry, Co. Cork, and educated locally. From 1855 to 1877, he served as editor of the nationalist newspaper The Nation, and was called to the bar in both Ireland and England. In 1870 he became one of the founders of the Irish Party, sitting as MP for Louth (1874-80) and Meath (1880-81). He was an accomplished writer, whose publications include The Story of Ireland (1870).Thomas Farrell was the foremost sculptor of his generation, and the first to become president of the Royal Hibernian Academy. He was knighted in 1894.
