DescriptionThis is one of eight plates after Rubens's designs for his series of tapestries depicting the life of Achilles Baron engraved the prints after a set of oil sketches made by Rubens in 1630, now in the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam. In this print Thetis is shown arming Achilles. Thetis steps ashore at centre and receives a shield from Hephaestus who is seated on a stone block at left.InscriptionLettered under image with production details and title in Latin and English, followed by six lines of Latin and English verses in two columns: P.P.
