DescriptionWhile attending the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art, Flora Mitchell developed her signature technique – an initial pencil sketch with colour notes made in situ, followed by a detailed drawing developed in watercolour at home. Mitchell fastidiously documented the changing urban landscape around her. Despite striving to make most of her sketches from life, she also used photography as a visual aid. A photograph is pasted onto this drawing, rather than being kept separately as a reference, becoming enveloped in the composition.(Katie Buckley, Curatorial Fellow - Prints and Drawings, An Artist's Presence, 2025, Print Gallery)
