DescriptionArmand Seguin was one of the artists who lived and worked in Brittany in the early 1890s. The techniques of selective plate-wiping to give tone and reserving areas to indicate the reflective nature of water are characteristic of Armand Seguin. He was a skilful printmaker and taught his friend, the Irish painter Roderic O’Conor the basics of etching. The high viewpoint and graphic nature of this print show the influence of Japanese prints.ProvenancePrivate collection, France; Artemis London (2010); Sam Josefwitz, Pully (bought from the above); thence by descent; Purchased by Eric Gillis for Agnews Srl, 25 October 2023; Purchased, 2024
