DescriptionThis photograph is from Katrina Lithgow’s series titled “A Series of Women”. In 1991, Lithgow began this series that reconsiders the idea of woman as muse and the female nude. In 1995, Lithgow recalled in an interview: "My intent was for the images to convey a sense of power in what's often regarded as a vulnerable situation … I hadn't originally intended to photograph children, it just happened that several friends - Sarah being one - have had children over the period that I've been taking pictures of them." (The Independent, 1995)
This image is part of a portfolio of 30 photographs published by Zelda Cheatle in 2003 to celebrate 15 years of exhibitions in her London gallery. The photographs range from digital prints to silver gelatin prints and cyanotypes.
