DescriptionThis print is characteristic of the artist's early work, with its use of contrasting light and shade and strong lines. The use of a pale yellow ink on the Customs House makes the building glow against the dark blues of the river, sky and surrounding buildings. Although the building is closely observed, the resulting image is not slavishly exact. It was made when Naessens worked as a master printer in Graphic Studio Dublin located at Green Street East on the opposite bank of the Liffey.
