DescriptionThe photograph was taken at the end of a day De Chenu spent photographing the community of Cistercian trappist monks at Mountmellary Abbey in County Waterford. He visited the grotto, which had become well known following a number of accounts of apparitions that took place in the 1980s. The woman spoke of the experience she was having as the photograph was being taken.
