DescriptionThe five artists and writers included in the 2018 Graphic Studio Dublin (GSD) Sponsors’ portfolio are: Paul Muldoon (b.1951, Portadown, Co. Armagh), Ailbhe Barrett (b.1978, Limerick), Vaida Varnagiene (b.1971, Lithuania), Julie Ann Haines (b.1966, Belfast) and Maser (b.1981, Dublin)

Graphic Studio Dublin is Ireland’s oldest print studio and has been influential since its foundation. The genesis for their series of Sponsors’ Portfolios occurred in the early years of GSD, when from 1962 to 1979 they published a collection of loose works entitled 'Sponsors’ Portfolios', containing art and literature by a selection of Irish and international artists and writers. In 2010, GSD relaunched this fund-raising initiative for the running of the studio as part of their 50th anniversary, focusing on writers and artists from Ireland, or working here. To celebrate, GSD committed to publishing the project for 10 years (2010-2019), producing one portfolio per year. A limited edition of 75 bespoke folders has been made annually, each containing four fine art prints by GSD printmakers and invited artists and one letterpress sheet by a well-known writer. All sheets, 46 x 38 cm in size, are signed and editioned. The National Gallery of Ireland has acquired all 10 published portfolios in the series (2010-2019).
