DescriptionThis mysterious image of a rider returning from a wind-tossed forest forms part of Le Brun’s 2005 ‘Fifty Etchings’ series. The literary sources that inspired these delicately worked prints include Bunyan’s 'Pilgrim’s Progress' and Dante’s 'Inferno'. The universal journeying figure can be seen as a metaphor for metaphysical journeys taken in search of meaning and beauty. In his work Le Brun explores the wide variety of mark-making possible through etching techniques.
