DescriptionThis intriguing print may depict Lots Road Power Station which stands on the Thames in the industrial fringe of Chelsea in London. The massive plant started generating electricity in 1905 and was decommissioned in 2002. The urban subject matter and emphasis on densely packed, angular forms associate this image with Vorticism, a British art movement inspired by Cubism and Futurism.
