DescriptionIn this seascape Faulkner has applied the pigment with a dry brush, which gives a rich, impasto quality to the surface. Using this technique, he captures dramatic light effects across the expansive coast. The Inishkea Islands (from the Irish Inis Gé or Goose Island) are situated off the Mullet peninsula, north-west of Achill Island. They are famous for their wildlife and for numerous Neolithic and Early Christian archaeological sites.
