DescriptionBorn in Sussex, Thérèse Lessore was the daughter of the French painter and etcher Jules Lessore, who settled in England in 1871. She attended the Slade School of Fine Art and was elected to the artists' collective The London Group, in January 1914. Her first solo exhibition, held at the Eldar Gallery in 1918, included domestic interiors and music hall scenes, whcih revealed the influence of Walter Sickert, whom she married in 1926.
