DescriptionIn this topographically accurate picture, the artist conveys the openness of the North Dublin coastline through his spare use of line and colour. The Martello tower to the left of Ireland’s Eye Island is clearly visible, balanced by the huge freestanding rock known as ‘the Stack’ on the right. Lambay Island can be seen in the distance. The work bears all the hallmarks of a drawing made literally ‘in the field’. There is a sense of spontaneity, speed and energy communicated through the mark-making.
