DescriptionIn 1905, Margaret Clarke received a scholarship to attend the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art. This drawing gives a sense of the atmosphere of the School, of how it may have felt to be a student at that time. Studying plaster casts was an integral step in an artist’s education. Clarke faithfully records the statue in front of her. Her presence in this work is revealed through the scribbled instructions to her fellow students on the lower right of the sheet: ‘Don’t move easel’.
