DescriptionIn 2005, The Swedish Fine Art Print Society (FfGK) presented the National Gallery of Ireland with 69 of their prints, ranging in date from 1895 to 1998. Olle Hamngren, who attended the Royal Art Academy in Stockholm, made a series of etchings of heads in 1985. This print was selected by the Society for their 1985 portfolio. The artist poured concentrated acid onto the plates to produce densely bitten and rough lines. An identifiable Swedish sensibility is inherent in this work, characterized by a sense of brooding melancholy.
