DescriptionIn 1827, Turner spent a number of weeks at Petworth house in East Sussex, the country home of George O'Brien Wyndham (1751-1837), third Earl of Egremont. Turner had been commissioned by Egremont to paint four landscape oils for the 'Carved Room'. During his stay Turner produced many brightly coloured studies like this of the house and grounds on blue paper.
