DescriptionIn 1832 Turner received a commision for twenty-six views of places mentioned in the Bible, to be engraved by the Finden brothers, and published by them in conjunction with John Murray. Turner based this work and many other illustrations for Finden's Bible (1833-36) on sketches by the architect and amateur artist Sir Charles Barry (1795-1860), who toured the Middle East between 1817 and 1820.
