Label TextHutton was an educated and accomplished woman from a wealthy family from Drumcondra, Dublin. She had been engaged to the poet and cultural nationalist Thomas Davis (1814-1845) for less than a month when he died of scarlet fever. A watercolour portrait of Hutton and her two sisters was painted by Frederic William Burton. Moore’s fellow sculptor Oliver Sheppard admired this work greatly.
