DescriptionThis preparatory drawing of Orpheus with his harp was executed by Barry for one of his six mural paintings that he created for the Great Room of the Royal Society of Arts in London between 1777 and 1784. This ambitious mural series was titled: 'A Series of Pictures on Human Culture'. All six murals are essentially Christian parables
