DescriptionDavid La Touche (1729-1817), was the grandson of David Digges La Touche (1671-1745), founder of the famous Dublin bank. This line engraving after an oil painting was made by James Fittler around 1805. The engraved lines are rich and dark indicating that it is an early impression. The full-length oil portrait of David La Touche, which this print is based on, was painted in 1803. It is now in the collection of the Bank of Ireland. At this time La Touche was in his early seventies and had more or less retired from running the family bank.InscriptionUnlettered proof
