DescriptionDublin's 'Great Exhibition' of 1853, located on Leinster Lawn attracted over a million visitors. William Dargan, the railway magnate who financed the exhibition, is commemorated in the border decoration. The Irish inscription translates as: 'the darkest hour is the hour before dawn', a reference to Ireland's expected cultural and political renaissance.
