DescriptionIrish photographer, Edward Quinn lived and worked as a photographer since the 1950s on the Côte d’Azur, which was during the “Golden Fifties” the playground of celebrities from the world of show business, art and business. Here, he met and photographed a number of celebrated actors, musicians and visual artists, most notably Pablo Picasso. Inspired by a number of James Joyce’s short stories and novel about Dublin from the 'Dubliners' to 'A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man', Quinn returned to Ireland in the early 1960s and moved through the streets of Dublin in an effort to capture the flavour and atmosphere of the city and its people. This resulted in the publication, 'James Joyce’s Dublin', published in 1974. Here, he captures a group of young boys strolling along a footpath in the city. They seem to have just caught the eye of the artist at the moment he shot the composition.
