DescriptionThis engraving is part of a series entitled 'A Collection of Prints, Engraved from the most Capital Paintings in England', produced by the publisher and print-seller John Boydell. Through this series, Boydell hoped to advance the work of English engravers and to compete with the French in the European print trade. His venture was a success, simultaneously making a name for Boydell and for English engravers both in England and abroad.
