DescriptionThis print was published as part of Thomas Birch’s book, 'The Heads of Illustrious Persons of Great Britain'. Each ‘head’ was depicted as a bust in an oval frame with symbols alluding to their accomplishments. The inscription and the anchor and rope make reference to Warwick’s appointment as Lord High Admiral in 1642. Other illustrious heads in the series include Geoffrey Chaucer, Henry VIII, and Sir Walter Raleigh.
