Label TextSolomons served as Master of the Rotunda Hospital, President of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, and first President of the Liberal Synagogue in Dublin. He was also a gifted rugby player, capped ten times for Ireland, and master of the Kildare Hunt. His father was an optician, whose premises are mentioned in Joyce’s Ulysses, and his sister Estella was a highly regarded artist. Epstein’s other Irish sitters include G.B. Shaw and Lady Gregory. He also designed the tomb of Oscar Wilde in Paris.
