DescriptionFrancis Place was an English artist who visited Ireland in 1698. He landed in Drogheda and travelled south, leaving from the port of Waterford in 1699. This prospect or view of Dublin, taken from Thomas's Hill where the Magazine Fort now stands, is one of nineteen drawings by Place in the National Gallery of Ireland's collection.Inscriptionupper left (in graphite): Hill of Hoth
