Label TextThis is a recollection of the city, ‘blurred and altered by time’, spared of distracting architectural detail and apparently devoid of human activity. The Ha’penny Bridge, recognisable at the centre of the composition, serves to orientate the viewer, while the grey palette suggests at once the limestone and granite fabric of the city, overcast skies, and perhaps the neutral colours of distant memory.
