Label TextCharacterised by its expansive sky and a familiar Irish balance of sunlight and shadow, this painting records the harbour and jetty at Waterfoot, a location with which the artist was intimately familiar. Craig had a studio at Cushendun, a short distance to the north along the coast. He had a particular affection for the Glens of Antrim – from which the title of the picture is derived – but also painted extensively elsewhere. Clearly identifiable on the headland are the ruins of the 16th-century Red Bay Castle, home of the MacDonnells.
