DescriptionRegarded as the principal landscape painter of the Dutch Golden Age, Jacob van Ruisdael produced about 700 paintings and some 100 drawings. He excelled in various subgenres, such as woodlands, rivers, waterfalls, mountains, seascapes, beaches and panoramic views. A Wooded Landscape exemplifies how Dutch painters manipulated landscapes for artistic purposes. Here Ruisdael used the winding road and different layers of green
