Label TextJellett trained under Orpen in Dublin before moving on to Paris in 1920 with Evie Hone. The friends studied first under André Lhote, and then Albert Gleizes, whose non-representational, highly geometrical paintings proved a strong influence on both artists. Jellett began to analyse rhythm, colour and form in her own work, but also drew on long-standing pictorial traditions. In the mid-1930s she began to use a wider range of colour and produced compositions that were more organic in character.
