DescriptionThis watercolour is one of seven small-scale domestic works made by Fanny Currey, a member of the Watercolour Society of Ireland. It is typical, in terms of the assured handling of the watercolour medium, of the skilful watercolour paintings she produced in the latter decades of the nineteenth century. Fanny Currey commonly painted the landscape close to where she lived in the west of Co. Waterford. Many of the works she exhibited at the RHA from 1877 depict views in and around Lismore. This image may depict the Owennashad river with the Knockmealdown mountains in the background, although it has an Alpine feel to it.
