Label TextHaving trained in Dublin, Paris and London, Reid divided her time principally between Dublin and her native Co. Louth. She was inspired, as here, by the landscape of the Boyne Valley, its antiquities, and nearby medieval monastic sites. This is one of twelve works Reid contributed to the Venice Biennale in 1950. A prolific painter, she exhibited widely and was involved with such pioneering artists’ bodies as the White Stag Group and the Irish Exhibition of Living Art. Intuitive and well-versed in Modernism, she developed a distinctive style.
